Lee McFarland | lead pastor

For the over 25 years, Pastor Lee McFarland has served as an evangelical pastor, community strategist, and consultant to churches, charter schools, and businesses throughout the United States.

McFarland has been a guest speaker at National Community Church (Mark Batterson), New Life Church (Troy Jones), Phoenix 1st Assembly (Luke Barnett), Saddleback Church (Rick Warren), and numerous other churches. Pastor Lee has taught church planting as part of the Church Multiplication Network (CMN), and has trained pastors in Indonesia and South Korea.

Pastor Lee’s 15-year career prior to ministry included Honeywell Microelectronics and Aerospace as an engineer and manager, and Microsoft Corporation as Director for World-Wide Operations.

McFarland left the corporate world in 1996, relocating to Arizona, where he started a church that grew from a group of 20 in his living room to a congregation of over 6,300, the 86th largest in the country (Outreach Magazine 2011). McFarland also founded an NCA accredited Arizona charter school in 1998, Paradise Honors Charter School, which continues to serve over 1,900 children.

Pastor Lee has been very open about how he resigned in 2011 from Radiant Church in Surprise, AZ, the church he founded in 1997, after confessing to moral failure. He confessed, resigned, repented, and submitted to a 2-year period of restoration under Pastor Tommy Barnett and Rev. Stephen Harris, Superintendent of the Arizona Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. He was reinstated in September 2013 as an Ordained Minister. His wife, Sandy, and he remain committed to their marriage of 41 years and have emerged a stronger couple.

From 2015 to 2021, Pastor Lee was Lead Pastor at Luminate Church in Covina, CA, (formerly Covina AG) a muti-campus church of 2,400 in Los Angeles County. He also was the Executive Director for Project 29:11, a Community Development Corporation which received the “Non-Profit of the Year” in Los Angeles County.

Pastor Lee and Sandy were chosen by the members of Austin Bluffs Community Church on June 15, 2022 to be their new Lead Pastor. It is a beautiful return to their roots in Colorado Springs where Lee attended Palmer High School, where he and Sandy met, and where they were married. Pastor Lee and Sandy believe God is going to do something incredible to reach people with the love of Jesus.

Pastor Lee has a message of restoration and hope in Jesus for those who have suffered major setbacks in life. His calling now is to reach the heart of many through transparency and openness. God’s grace and the power of His redemption are even more evident in Pastor Lee’s ministry after being restored.
